Hey there!
I’m so glad you’re here. If you’re reading this post it means I’ve sparked your interest and you want to get to know me better.

So let me share a bit more about myself and my story of becoming a yoga teacher.

Let’s begin!

Certified & Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher

Meet Andrijana

Let’s start with the basics, right?

My name is Andrijana (the ‘j ‘ is pronounced as a ‘y ‘, as in yoghurt 😉 ) and I am the yogini behind Andriyanna’s Flow – currently a blog where I share my love and knowledge about yoga, both asana and philosophy, mindful living and occasionally some healthy recipes. 🙂

The Beginning of my journey

I got on this crazy, everlasting yoga journey the first time I stepped on a yoga mat back in 2018. To be honest, it didn’t stick with me right away…

So how did I get here?

“My everlasting transformative yoga journey started in 2018…”

actually got a degree in Telecommunications Engineering, however right after graduation I got a job in the IT Software industry as an Automation Quality Assurance Engineer. So as you can imagine, the next 5 years I spent working behind a desk, staring at a screen. While it really fulfilled my intellectual needs, I dreaded how it made my body feel.

Same as for many other people, the pandemic was the last straw – I had to make some changes!

From engineering to yoga!

The first time I tried yoga was in 2018 and I DID NOT like it! Not sure if it was the style of yoga, the teacher, or the environment, but the first experience wasn’t nice for me! After that, I took a few random classes at different studios, with different teachers, but nothing really stuck with me…

Fast forward to the pandemic, being confined in an apartment all day, every day, all alone, I decided I should give it a try again. This time for real – consistently and don’t stop until I find something that truly works for me, because my body deserves it and my mental health desperately needs it!

Funnily enough, that search didn’t last all that long!

I started practicing at home, for free with, surprise surprise, YouTube videos! I am eternally grateful to my beautiful childhood friend Angela who suggested BohoBeautiful, as well as to Juliana and Mark of course, the duo behind it, for their wonderful videos!

And so my regular yoga practice began!

Yoga at home, by myself for myself!

“The first time ever I took a yoga class I didn’t like it, at all!”

The short answer to why I do it - it keeps me sane.
The long answer though is much better.

During those difficult and weird times, my yoga practice was the only thing keeping me from totally falling apart. While on my mat I could switch off my brain (or at least try to… ) and solely focus on my teacher’s cues and philosophy teachings, my bodily movement and breath. After some time, of course, I noticed changes in my physique – more toned and less stiff, but more importantly I started noticing that I am able to cope with regular daily stress and loneliness better.

Just to track my progress and keep myself busy, I started sharing some of my practices on my Instagram stories. Little did I know that I would get so much positive feedback! Once I started getting messages from random people telling me they enjoy those stories, they found inspiration in them, that they also started moving their body more often or got motivated to do something they didn’t believe possible for them, something in me shifted.

Realising that this practice and sharing was rewarding for me, but more importantly for others, was the moment when the seed for teaching was planted – I knew I wanted to share yoga, mindfulness, positivity and everything I knew, with as many people as possible!

June 2023 finished my 200h Yoga Teacher Training & registered with the globally recognised Yoga Alliance.

After 4 years from my first class and 2 years of consistent yoga practice every single day (with only a few inevitable breaks), starting with 20-minute classes working up to sometimes spending easily 2-3h on the mat, I felt I should take this journey to the next step.

It took me quite a long time choose a school, to the point I figured I was only stalling and giving my insecurity the power to rule over me. So, I just stopped my endless comparisons and analysis, and finally decided on House of Om in Bali and enrolled in their training.

Over the next moths, I practiced, and studied hard to deepen every aspect of my practice – asana, breathwork, meditation, Ayurveda…

Finally, in June 2023 I got my 200h Yoga Teacher Certification and registered with the biggest globally recognized non-profit yoga organization – the Yoga Alliance.
